UK Circumnavigation

Jenny's two months of sailing, starting at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and heading north to the Caledonian Canal and eventually all the way around the UK ( weather permitting ). I will be meeting friends on route who will share the sailing. Jenny's homepage http://www.jsquared.co.uk/jennyb and the link to Serenity http://www.yacht-serenity.org.uk/

Lowestoft

After a forecast of a f3-f4, there was no wind and so we motored all the way from Felixstowe to Lowestoft. It was a little cold and foggy, but navigation was easy and Jennifer and I took hourly watches whilst the other slept.
We are now in a cafe at the historic triangle market in Lowestoft

Jennifer adds:
We left Levington at about 20:00, waved off by Nina. By the time we left the Orwell and hit the open sea the lights were coming on at Felixstowe Docks. It was just daylight as we arrived at Lowestoft at 04:00. My first ever night sail!

We collapsed in our bunks until around 10:00, wandered around Lowestoft taking it easy, went to the cinema and saw the new Indiana Jones, bed by 10:30, up at 04:00 for a 05:00 start the next morning.

Last preparations

Well, its Friday morning, and looking at the wind and tides, we may, or may not make the bar at Wells for the high tide Saturday at 15:30. I have a plan (b) - continue to Kings Lynn for midnight, or (c) stop at Lowestoft at around 04:00 if it looks like we are really tired and late.

Jennifer is crewing, and seems inspired by Libby Purves's book about circumnavigating the UK with a family.

All ready to go..

Planning

Waiting to get Serenity back in the water. She is antifouled, anodes changed and the cutlass bearing checked ( although it does rattle a bit ) .
The first leg will be from Suffolk Yacht Harbour to Kings Lynn - a bit of an odd route, but I want to see The Wash.
